Easel of your choice. I use the Sauter All-in-one easel. It mounts to a tri-pod and acts as your painting surface as well as having a space in the lid to put paper. I have the 16 x 20 for local plein air and the 11 x 14 for travel.
Pastels of your choice. Most pastel brands work well with Wallis paper. I recommend 3 or 4 dark Nupastels;
I create most all underdrawing with these. 244 (Blue Violet), 295 (Prussian Blue), 298 (Bottle Green), 224 (Violet), 254 (Red Violet)
Yellows that I frequently use: 243 (Lt Ochre), 257 (Deep Chrome Yellow), 257 (Deep Cadmium Yellow), 247 (Lt Naples Yellow)
Greens that I frequently use: 208 (Sap Green), 268 (Light Sap Green), Otherwise bring what works best for you....include several good darks. I use a combination of Terry Ludwig, Unison, Sennelier, Rembrandt, Daler Rowney and a few other brands. It is more important to have a full range of values; lights, midtones, & darks than it is to have an enormous selection of colors.
Wallis sanded paper, White and Belgium Mist - I use Dakota Wallis Board...it is Wallis paper mounted onto a acid free museum board...from Dakota Pastel
Drawing board/Surface. Gator board is a good choice as it is very rigid and lightweight.
Glassine paper to put over each of your completed paintings. Another thing to consider is Clearbags.
Container for water or solvent....I use denatured alcohol
Paint brushes. I use coarse bristle brushes 1/2 - 1" wide. Use old brushes...the Wallis paper will wear down the brushes.
Collapsible stool or chair...highly recommended for sitting during demonstration, eating lunch...etc.
Here are some websites I found for them...

Umbrella of any sort in the event of heat.
Masking tape or tape of your choice
A few extras:
Pencils if you prefer for your initial composition drawing or for general sketching.
Try softer pencils B-4B. General's Charcoal pencils are great with pastels.
Paper towels and moist towelettes. Tip...I buy a roll of paper towels and just tear off several for the day to lighten my load.
Moist towelettes as well go into a small ziplock. Hat or visor, apron, sunscreen, bug spray.
When traveling I carry-on my small pastel box in a computer suitcase on wheels. It has extra pockets for camera etc that I don't want to check in. My tripod and other materials go in my checked suitcase....but will then be transferred into computer case for painting. A backpack can be used instead of roller case in ceratin terrain and circumstances.
I may have overlooked something so feel free to ask any further questions.
The idea is to keep it a fun, learning experience!
